Plantings include a pomegranate tree, roses, mock orange, aloe vera, oleander, passion flower, honeysuckles and young conifers. There is space to install a jacuzzi or maybe even a small above-ground pool.

Adjacent to the garden patio is the storage/laundry room which has a fireplace, and could be converted into an additional bedroom or a workshop.

Interior of the house

The entrance door is built into a recess in the mountain wall, offering protection from the sun or occasional rain. You enter a central front hall with 3 doorways. To the right you access the beautifully finished kitchen with garden view, wooden cabinets and mosaic tile. Adjacent to the kitchen is a large pantry.

The kitchen connects to a spacious dining room which, in turn, connects to a living room, also accessible from the central front hall. To the left from the central hall is a sitting room with a wood-burning stove and a double bedroom to the right.

Opposite, is the beautifully finished bathroom with a shower and a sunny double bedroom with garden views. Next to this bedroom, a stairway with decorative tiles leads up to a bright, airy room, with exposed beams, a wood-burning stove and mountain views. This room feels a little like a tower room and offers multiple possibilities: third bedroom, office or game room.

The section comprising the bathroom, adjacent bedroom and room upstairs are located in the outbuild part of the house; the rest of the dwelling is fully cave.

Location, services, and tourist attractions

Los Olivos is a hamlet in the municipality of Castilléjar. In Castilléjar you will find essential services such as a doctor's office, pharmacy, school, bank, grocery store, bar-restaurants, and a weekly market.

Huéscar, about 15 km away, offers additional amenities and services including more restaurant-bars, shops, a large weekly market and 24/7 medical care. The city of Baza, 30 km away, has large supermarkets and the regional hospital.

Los Olivos has a beautiful and spacious communal swimming pool open in the summer. There are also natural spring-fed pools in Orce and Huéscar, and reservoirs with turquoise waters throughout the region.

This is a wonderfully unspoilt region of Spain where life still moves at the relaxed pace of traditional Spain. The villages of the region celebrate cultural festivals throughout the year and everyone is invited to participate.

The area is also notable for its archaeological richness, such as the Argaric settlement of Loma de la Balunca, one of the most important cultures of Prehistory in the Iberian Peninsula.

The surrounding countryside provides stunning landscapes of the Castilléjar badlands, hiking trails, mountain biking, paragliding, and spectacular night skies free from light pollution.
