Las Salinas, next to the town, is a marshland area that is a protected Natural Park and declared an area of special importance for wild birds, including Flamingos and stilt birds.
Santa Pola is ideal for many nautical sports and air based pursuits therefore it is very normal to see wind surfing, sailing, swimming, fishing, jet skiing and paragliding being practised along it´s coast..
