Cueva Caroline in Huéscar

Cueva Caroline is a beautiful cave property situated on the edge of the small town of Huéscar on the Altiplano de Granada. There are stunning views of farmland across the track and of the Sierra de La Sagra mountains. At night, the church Iglesia de Santa María la Mayor up on the hill is beautifully lit up, offering a peaceful and striking skyline.

The front door takes you into the spacious, bright open plan living room, dining room and kitchen. The living room has an extra large pellet burner and built-in shelves with a desk. This open plan space has windows facing in three directions so there is lots of light.

The bedrooms and snug are beautifully finished in the traditional cavy style. The bathrooms have a clean, modern, black & white tile pattern.

The bedrooms, bathroom and snug are built into the mountain in two sections:

Straight back from the living room is a small hallway leading to a bathroom and a bedroom that has a wardrobe area as you enter.

To the right of the living room you enter the inviting snug room. It has a wood burner with an oven section and a window onto the front patio. Straight ahead from the snug room is a bedroom. To the left is a hall leading to two bedrooms and a bathroom.

The cave bedrooms all have closet or cabinet space. Built-in decorative shelf spaces have been carefully dug out from the rock and tastefully finished.

Outside, the large brick, tile and stone patio is enclosed with a 1m concrete wall, nicely finished with decorative roof tiles. The private parking is just outside the patio wall, with two wooden entrance gates. A staircase takes you up to the roof terrace. The wraparound pergola covers the utility room entrance on the left side of the patio.

This beautiful property is located on a quiet track with excellent access. The track dead ends a few doors down so there is little passage. You have a 5 min drive or 20 min walk into town. The neighbourhood is a mix of beautifully renovated cave houses and some traditional unrenovated caves, some of which were originally built by the Moors.

Huéscar is a bustling small town with shops, restaurants, a weekly market, 24 hr health centre and a beautiful communal swimming pool that is fed with fresh spring water. Huéscar is situated near the badlands and several mountain ranges, great for hiking and mountain biking. There are pristine turquoise lakes within 20-45 minutes.
