How is it possible that an English nobleman shaped the present-day Frigiliana?

Philip Henry Hylton, was born in Lincoln in 1910 and died in Frigiliana in 1988, where with Doña Isabel, his third wife, he established his residence after discovering these lands on his third honeymoon, to Morocco, when he stopped in Malaga and visited a friend who lived in Gibraltar in 1955 and took them on a tourist tour through southern Andalusia, marveling at Frigiliana and especially at La Molineta, the place where he established his residence, in "El Cortijo La Perrinda".

He was a naval engineer in the English Merchant Navy and was a traveler. He had the desire to plant avocados in 1968 in the "Cortijo la Perrinda", located in the Cañada del Molino, and in the farm of the "Cañada del Mellao" in 1972.

He planted Californian Fuerte avocado trees, bringing them from the Antilles, where he traveled for his work, and in connection with Agronomists in the Area, such as La Exotica or La Mayora.

Don Felipe, as we knew him in Frigiliana, had the desire and vision to grow avocados, being the first in Frigiliana and one of the first in Axarquia.

We have been growing avocados in Frigiliana for 50 years, it is not something new for us and we have always combined it with traditional crops.

Our avocados are of supreme quality and are cultivated with love and experience, resulting in gourmet fruits.
Frigiliana, a land of splendor, and its people want it too, from the whitewash of its streets to the green of our orchards, like our Andalusian flag.

For us, agriculture is our essence; it''s where we''ve come from for centuries, in the Nasrid culture and later, reclaiming land on the rugged slopes with our dry stone balates and bringing water through our Moorish ditches, armlets, and ponds, to irrigate the orchards, terraces, and farms, where the peasant minted his coins as fruit.
