Located in the old quarter of Martos town in Jaen province, this beautifully renovated townhouse offers the perfect blend of modern living combined with impressive original features. Built against the castle walls, this unique property boasts 2 patios with stunning views out across the town and the countryside beyond, perfect for soaking up the Spanish sunshine and watching the fantastic sunsets. Being sold fully-furnished and with many of the town's amenities including bars, shops and cafes just a short walk away, this is the perfect property for holidays or full-time living.
You can access the property 2 ways, either the front door or via the patios. Entering the property via double front doors, you will find the first of 2 bathrooms to the left and stairs leading up to a good-sized lounge/dining area with log burner. Dual windows give the area a bright and spacious feel.
Stairs off the lounge take you up firstly to the large master bedroom with built in storage. The spacious room has a high ceiling wih exposed, original wooden beams and a room off it which has first fix plumbing and electrics, ready for an ensuite to be added. Round from the bedroom you will find a well appointed, fully-tiled family bathroom with shower. There is a room currently used for storage and as a workshop, but this could easily become a third bedroom if required. There is also an area, used by the owners as a library, but could also work well as an office or storage space.
Stairs from the landing lead up to the 2nd double bedroom, again with exposed ceiling beams and also featuring original stonework from the castle wall.
Going back down to the lounge, a few steps from the dining area take you into a lovely, fully-fitted kitchen and out to the first patio. This area is partially covered, making it great for alfresco dining and relaxing, whilst taking in the stunning views. There is a planted area up to the castle walls including a mature grapevine, cactus and a beautiful bougainvillea. Steps take you up to the 2nd patio where the views become even more breathtaking and there is space for a jacuzzi. There is also an historic tunnel, leading into the castle walls, which is currently used for storage.
This property has been updated to a high standard, whilst still retaining character and charm from some lovely original features. With updated electrics, plumbing, windows etc, it really needs to be viewed to fully appreciate everything it has to offer. Definately one not to miss !!
The town of Martos is located on a western peak of the Sierra Jabalcuz mountain range. It belongs to the metropolitan Area of Jaén, which is considered to be the second most important city after the capital. The closest airport is Granada which is around 50 minutes away or the larger airport of Malaga is around 1 hour 3/4. Martos is considered to be the greatest producer of olive oil in Spain. The town is situated beneath the Cerro de la Peña, topped with the ruins of the castle of the same name. This compact town spreads out over the slopes of the hill, under the Castle of La Villa and the Church of Santa María. Its privileged location offers beautiful views over a vast sea of olive trees. There is a large outdoor market held weekly near the park and several fiesta's are held here throughout the year. This is the perfect town for those wishing to experience the true Spanish lifestyle.
