Alcala la Real is overlooked by a Moorish castle, La Mota, which was reclaimed by the Christians in the fourteenth century and boasts wonderful panoramic views to the surrounding countryside. The neighbourhood of El Llanillo, which encloses around the town hall, is an area of particular historic and architectural interest. The town provides great amenities including a medical centre, bus station, museum, library, sports centre, swimming pool, supermarkets, shops and a good choice of bars and restaurants. There is also a large market in the town every Tuesday.
