Bolnuevo is a small town in the municipality of Mazarron famous for its geological formations called Las Gredas or La Ciudad Encantada (the enchanted city) with mushroom shaped rocks. It is also host to summer music festivals with the rocks being the background to the stage performances.
Each November it also hosts the Pilgrimage of the Purisma where hundreds of people walk and escort the Virgin from the Church of the Purisma in Mazarron town all the way down to the little Hermitage in Bolnuevo. Afterwards people have the sardine festival on the beach which is one of the most popular festivals in the province.
